The last "official" stop on my road trip was Las Vegas, NV. I had been there before, but only as a kid, when you can't gamble or drink, you just go to see Siegfried & Roy or Wayne Newton (wow, I feel old now). I met up with my good friend, Ms. Brittney, who flew over from Los Angeles.
We only had like 12 hours there, and I had just been hiking the Grand Canyon and driven a van for six hours, but we killed it like champs! As I mentioned in my previous Vegas post, I won $20 at the New York NY Hotel slots! In the end, I only came out $8 under what I had started with.
I won't give a play-by-play, but highlights included: being presumed to be a couple by a male bartender (kind of refreshing after my experiences in the South), observing LVPD cops arrest two Black women without apparent incident, and seeing a fight break out between two guys from a wedding party. We managed to hit up: The New York NY, Flamingo, Paris, Caesar's, Bellagio, and Cromwell hotels/casinos. At least, those are the only ones I can remember.
The next morning, we began the long, traffic-filled drive to Los Angeles, where I dropped Brittney off, and then headed to Santa Barbara to see my sister and twin nephews for one night before ending up in the Bay Area as the conclusion to my trip.
Stay tuned for an end-of-journey report and a cool road trip video coming soon!
Onward,
Chris
